As we approach a winter that will mark a turning point in our history, I feel deep in my soul that the long-awaited moment of liberation is near. The wind of change is blowing ever stronger, portending the fall of a regime that has held us captive for too long.
For many of us, the years under communism have been a period of silent suffering, of privation, and of the suffocation of the spirit. We all know the stories of the prisons, of those who dared to think freely and paid a heavy price for it. We remember with bitterness the cultural losses, the flames that consumed invaluable treasures, such as the Count's Library, an irreparable loss for our heritage.
However, in the shadow of this oppressive regime, there were also strong bonds, a brotherhood forged in suffering. The solidarity among those who understood the truth, even if only whispered, was a spark of hope in the darkness. Now, this brotherhood must become the beacon that guides us toward the future.
There is quiet talk about the KGB's tentacles reaching into the regime's structures, about the subtle influence and control exerted beyond our borders. These toxic connections have contributed to maintaining a state of stagnation and fear.
The fall of communism will undoubtedly be a good thing. It will mean liberation from ideological chains, openness to the world, and the chance to build our own future. However, we must be aware that the coming years will be turbulent. Communist mentalities, deeply rooted in our society, have destroyed critical thinking and promoted a culture of submission. It will take time, probably at least 30 years, before our country truly begins to grow and recover from the wounds of the past.
Therefore, I urge all of you, brothers and sisters, it is time to return to our essence in Romania, to the values that united us in difficult times. The approaching winter will be a crucial moment, a chance to rebuild on solid foundations. The country needs us, our wisdom and our united strength.
Let us prepare with courage and determination for this new era. Liberation is on the horizon.
